Getting Started

Sailor & Boat Prep
We'll prep our sailor and boat using newer tools like the Contextual task bar and Object selection tools. I also share some important brush techniques that will make your life a lot easier.
Background & Blending
Learn the right way to blend colors and contrasts of different images to make a cohesive background that will host our sailor and his boat. You’ll learn about several manipulations you can make with just the curves adjustment window!
Combine Sailor & Background
We will cover tools and features like smart objects, drawing realistic hair, layer blend modes, adding realistic shadows, opacity vs. flow, hue and saturation based color matching, and much more.
The Oar
We take our creativity to a new level and harness the power of AI to create our boat oar. We start online using Adobe’s Firefly Model 3 to generate a realistic boat oar for our composite. Then we'll use Photoshop's tried-and-true tools to merge and blend the oar into our creation.
Teddy Bear
Now it’s time to add our first mate! I guide you step-by-step through creating the teddy bear from scratch. Once the bear is created, we take him into Photoshop and position him on the boat.
Underwater Creature
Next, we add the underwater friends and the “story narrative” to the photo. I show you how to use tools like liquify and layer blend modes to simplify color correction and help match the elements to the overall masterpiece.
The Flag
In this lesson, we use generative fill to merge and blend different elements and make them work together well. I also give you tips on layer hierarchy and the importance of keeping your layers organized.
Finishing Touches
Lastly, I'll teach you how to fix all of those small details that are a tell-tale giveaway of a bad composite. I'll show you how to pinpoint these types of oversights and show you step-by-step how to get rid of them.
